Art Description
I started this piece in 2019 and I finally completed it this year in 2022 - 3 years later. This artwork represents femininity and being still. When I first decided to do a barramundi piece I could only imagine leaves all around it. The leaves represent the medicine found in water that feed the fish that eventually feed us. Symbolising the cycle of Country caring for us, as we care for it. The yellow symbols represent aadhiirr-malin (freshwater mussels)whilst the circles represent the eggs of the female barramundi.
This piece was created on Gimuy Walubara Yidinji & Dhuubi Warra in Cairns & Hope Vale, QLD.
